Saw it, LOVED it. And I'm not particuarly an x-men fan or a Wolverine fan.
Logan was a great story. Beautifully shot. Low CGI for a change. Sad, depressing, and real. Lots of swearing (Fuck! Fuck you! Fuck fuck! fuuuck!), and lots of violence (Steel claws tearing people up, slicing through heads, etc. Violet!) It even has nice naked tits!
It helps to know a little bit about the back story. You don't need all the details, but if you don't know anything about it, ask a friend about the Villian (Transigen, and Donald Pierce).
Logan looks like a western. The director, James Mangold, clearly likes Westerns and classic movies, with nods to "Shane", "Paper Moon" and others. Mangold also made the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line". There are tons of similarities between Wolverine and Johnny Cash in this movie. Cash has a song at the end credits, and The Johnny Cash cover of "Hurt" fits the editing and the basic story of Logan too as you can see in this trailer:
If you know the song and know Wolverine, you'll understand the connections being made in the trailer above.
Anyway, GREAT movie, not not just because its a Marvel movie. I'd say that this isn't even a superhero movie. There isn't even much action in it. Just a cool, sad story.
