For once, I agree with you.
Here's how it works. Tony Robbins gives super energetic speeches, full of uplifting, optimistic goodies. The trick though, is that this is all stuff everyone already knows. He gets people to nod their heads, and say yes, yes and alot more yes.
What it really is of course, is a sales pitch. "Do you want to be successful?" (Yes, of course!). "Buy my books / DVD etc".
Of course, everything you buy, has an upsell to something even bigger. "Do you REALLY want to be a success?" (Yes omg yes!). "Buy this book and that book!". Etc.
Eventually some people are paying thousands of dollars for this stuff, paying to go on retreats etc. Remember the "Walking on coals" bit from about 10-15 years ago? "I will give you so much self confidence that you, yes you, can walk on coals! Pay me a bazillion dollars to come to my exclusive retreat, blah blah blah".
Of course the truth is, anyone can walk on burning coals. After a fire has died down the ash on top of coals is much cooler than the flames below. Walking properly across coals at this time is possible to do without burning your feet. But hey, who needs science?
It doesn't hurt to check out his show, especially if its free. And if you want, of course buy a few books. There's undoubtedly some useful information in them that can help some people, but just be wary of all the extra up-sells.
