First of all, it seems historically INACCURATE
Second, it seems to portray TRADITIONALISM / VILLAGE LIFE as necessarily bad, backwards, provincial while the ELITE are well-read, well-traveled and have the 'right view' of what THE GOOD LIFE is supposed to be
Third, Gaston's military service is depicted as backwards and boorish. I find that interesting because enjoying the FREEDOM to think people like Gaston are backwards are paid for by the BLOOD of people like Gaston. You know, people willing to die for their country.
The list can go on and on.
Disney is one hell of a propaganda machine. Is it the larger culture influencing Disney or the other way around?
