In 2014 it imported 86,400 cubic metres per day (0.5 Mbbl/d) into its eastern provinces while simultaneously exporting 453,700 cubic metres per day (2.9 Mbbl/d) from its western provinces and east coast offshore oil fields.

Before 2016, the US had a export ban except for distillates and limited exchanges with Canada. And this was played well by the oil company's by moving hi-grade oil to Canada (for export) and bringing in low grade tar sands oil, barrel for barrel (or so it was suppose to be)

As I say, they tell you this and give you that and none of it is in your interest, just theirs.
Create a rule to protect someone and they will find a way around it or lobby to change a few words to give one company a advantage over others. Bought and paid for.

Their is a quote I think anyone would find interesting from Roosevelt when they were formulating rules against the banks bad behavior that led to the stock market crash but I know how everything can be taken as fake news so I say look it up. It's worth your while.

Those rules lasted till 1999 when they were abolished and look how long it took them to do it again.

When you need a job, that is what they will 'sell' you in any case.
Some day, you will need clean water to drink. What do you think they will sell you then.

If the US politicians here were that concerned with Americans having jobs, there would not have been so many Mexicans coming over the border 30 years ago. Business wants the cheap labor and the suppression of overall wages. Trumps wish for a wall is against his own party's wishes not matter what they say publicly about it . They always find a excuse for not actually doing anything. Status Quo.
Personally, I don't care, but if they work here, they should be paying taxes here like everybody else instead of a 1099-S and minimum wages should apply.
Folks here talk about the cheap labor in China and fail to see it in their own back yard.
