It's your job to pay your taxes and it's the Goverment job to Applied the Rules/ Law and Collect country taxes $$$ to all others.

I appreciate your honesty in that.
But if you are not working to make a change for the better, the forces to make it better for themselves will weigh in that balance and you loose that battle without a fight.
Democracy only works with your participation.
If you snooze you loose is still alive and well.
Don't sell-out so easy is my message.
And for everyone else , Failure to be registered to vote says they have less to worry about. The fact you might actually turn out and vote changes everything. Everyone in power's first priority is to stay in power.
Only you can change that.
Make them sell you what you need first and what you want second.
