Yes of course you're right. What I meant to say is that buying locally is a good idea for lots of reasons such as reduced transport time, and therefore less fuel consumption, fresher, cheaper food, boosting local economy, reducing the reliance of importing food from other places like Mexico, etc. I must have been tired when I wrote that sentence.
