There will always be an excuse as to why it's ok he failed and that they weren't lied too, it was just all the fault of this bad group or that one.. Hell, I bet by this point Trump actually believes his own bullshit. It's a strong trait with compulsive liars, they convince themselves their lie is not a lie but the truth and then it becomes the truth in their own mind.
