I think loan sharks might have been a big thing back in the 70s. But since then, banks have put them out of business by making huge debt too easy for anyone to get into. That's why you don't hear about loan sharks anymore.
We're seeing the same thing happening with Big Pharma. They're working toward putting drug dealers out of business. With people zonked out of their minds on Vicodin, OxyContin, Xanax, Valium, Adderall, and Ritalin, the back alley heroin/coke dealer can't really compete with that unless he assimilates. At some point in the chain, someone has to pay Big Pharma for these drugs so they always get their cut regardless whoever actually ends up taking them.
