I have mixed feelings about this.
While I love to see the United States military flex it's muscles, I am concerned that this can grow out of hand quickly. This is not a case of the United States military against the Syrian military. There are multiple other parties involved - ISIS, the Russians, The Iranians, and a dozen other "rebel" groups - some of which are not fond of the United States.
The past the United States and Russia has fought each other through proxy wars. This is vastly different. This is not the United States secretly arming rebels to take on Assad, but instead a direct attack by the United States military on a Syrian military base where their are Russians and Iranians are stationed.
The worst part is Trump doesn't have a plan at all. Forty-eight hours ago he was telling the world there was no reason to remove Assad, now we are bombing him. We all know there is no plan going forward.
What is most interesting to me is the US forces in the region. There are a few thousand US Marines on the ground in Syria, and also the 24th MEU is currently in the MED. Might get very interesting quickly.
