Assad had to use sarin gas for this stronghold because it is heavier than air, it rolls down stairs and through cracks in doors reaching rebels hunkered underground where they are difficult to take out without extensive Assad casualties. Unfortunately the rebels keep their children underground as well to keep them safe. I think I remember years ago Assad referring to them as rats or something.

The war has been 6 years Assad's troops are worn down and the strongholds aren't giving in. Trump said 2 weeks ago that Putin will work with Assad in Syria to kill ISIS and America doesn't need to be involved, Assad saw this as permission to do as he pleased without American intervention.

Trump is an idiot & Putin is making a mistake being associated as an Assad allie, this has trashed Putin's credibility worldwide and pissed off the Chechens as now 1/3 of all Syrian rebels are those muslim extremist factions coming into Syria to fight. So now Chechens will be terrorist bombing Russia at home until Putin changes.
