Of course you are 100% correct. But this statement sounds exactly like something written in 2006 -- when the tubes were just taking off -- and everyone was trying to figure out what to do about it.
2257 is law. But few take it seriously. Too many offenders, and not enough bureaucrat monkeys to enforce it universally.
Same with piracy.
"Everyone does it." And there's no way a content producer can afford to sue every offender.
