Rarely being talked about isn't the same as claiming it never happened. The equivalent, since you mention it, would be for me to say it never took place, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary (if that's the case, I've had a quick google up and it seems to be fact), because I don't like Ukrainians on account of thinking they control what I do, or have access to, or whatever the fuck it is you think that Jews do to oppress you. I don't like arsenal (fucking hate 'em, because of an irrational load of bollocks I was brought up on), but I don't go around saying the Invicibles team never existed, or that they haven't actually been in the CL for the past 19 seasons or so. I also don't go around hating every arsenal fan just because they support arsenal - that's the difference between being objective, knowing your reasoning has zero logic, and being a racist idiot - obviously using football as an analogy.
