I've never been bumped from a flight or had a flight canceled.
The only problem I've ever had was on a flight from Atlanta to Phoenix, with a stop in Vegas. It was a United flight. We were late taking off in Atlanta, and by the time we landed in Vegas I had just missed my connecting flight by about ten minutes. Moments after we landed they called out my name on the PA system, a stewardess came up to me while we were still taxing into our gate and told me to grab my luggage and meet her up at the cockpit "immediately". Once up front she explained to me they knew about my connecting flight, they were holding my connecting flight, and the gate we were arriving at was right next to the gate with my plane. They told me to make a right out of the gate I was walking out of, and then a right into the gate next door. They opened up the door, I walked out to the next gate, they waved me right through - They had a seat in the first row open and waiting for me. They had the door closed and the plane moving back from the gate before I had even sat down.
I have to admit I was impressed.
