You have to understand the difference between a war, an occupation, and an insurgency.
A war is fought between the military forces of two countries. In both Iraq and Afghanistan, the war was quickly fought and quickly won. Their governments and their military were quickly removed.
In both Iraq and Afghanistan there was an insurgency after the fall of the government and the military. At times this seemed significant. It's over in Iraq now. It's still happening in Afghanistan, but at this point US forces are more in a police action than anything else. Quite frankly, you cannot kill six hundred people that are hiding.
Would that happen in Korea? Most likely not. The population relies on the government for EVERYTHING and without this support, the North Korean people will die.
