So you're saying in comparison open radical and systemic racism in the USA is better or also among the worst in the world?
The French army was rolled over as was the British army early in WW2 - Britain had a sea-wall that saved it from invasion along with its airforce and foreign colonial armies that stood with it.
It's easy to brag about weaknesses of nations when one lives comfy in a nation with 2 big seas on 2 sides and 2 good allies on the other sides - lucky you're not in a warzone facing a ruthless war machine that the Nazis had in 1940 to see that horrible reality being overrun quickly.
As for quitters-myth, the French people had a strong resistance network that operated with great bravery- in spite of the common Nazi system of executing dozens of civilian hostages each time Nazi soldiers and officers were killed by partisans; in some cases entire villages would be exterminated. D-Day would not have been possible to attempt without the French Resistance.
