Furthermore - because one comedian of one political stripe jokes tabboo does not mean everybody in the same political spectrum is laughing. Maher gets jeered occasionally by some of his audience too. Besides which, Colbert may joke with tongue in cheek but he's not homophobe; you know when Trump's crowd slurs it slurs with malicious intent.
