On the other hand I think if you're found guilty, let it stand, but note in his files that he couldn't appeal. Then again, why can't his lawyer appeal on his behalf? I was watching a sports talk show today and they were talking about this case. In many cases, it likely won't matter if the conviction is vacated after the person's death, but in this case, it could mean millions of dollars. When Hernandez was arrested his NFL contract, as well as endorsement contracts, were all voided. Now that his conviction was voided it could mean millions in bonus and other money that his estate won't have to pay back. That means when the victim's family sues his estate for wrongful death, if they win, there is more that they can end up being paid.
