In many cases, it likely won't matter if the conviction is vacated after the person's death, but in this case, it could mean millions of dollars. When Hernandez was arrested his NFL contract, as well as endorsement contracts, were all voided. Now that his conviction was voided it could mean millions in bonus and other money that his estate won't have to pay back. That means when the victim's family sues his estate for wrongful death, if they win, there is more that they can end up being paid.
