So do the Russians. But we've been friends and even close allies with nations that have, since the fall of Communism, done many more and far worse wrong things than the Russians. Nations with a far worse track record on individual civil rights and democracy.
Regardless, the decision isn't like giving the Russians a medal or an award. It's about whether it's smart to work with them. I think that it is smart. It works to the advantage of this country to work with them. The hysteria and propaganda works for a hidden agenda that is not connected with benefit to the US or that of the world in general.
For what it's worth, there's no nation on the face of the planet that's been better at killing Fascists or killed more of them, than the Russians.
