Not everywhere, mate. Some places are nuts about it tho.
Slovakia and CZ for example are sick. Italy is easier, you just fill in the electronic form the number of your document.
And hey, I still feel uncomfortable, I may show my ID but making them scan it is epic. You share your info with someone you will not see again, you give your personal details to someone you know nothing about. I don't trust concierges. In fact, in EU there are case people find out later they have loans they never asked about.
