To be blunt neither liberals nor conservatives had anything to do with porn becoming defacto legal. The credit for that goes to people like Reuben Sturman and Kathy Willets and the incompetence of the FBI and the legal system.

Technology had nothing to do with this conversation but since you mentioned it...

First of all we made a hell of a lot films and they required all the talent and skill that it took to make a mainstream Hollywood movie. (FYI film is perhaps the highest definition available) There were fan clubs, box office openings, etc.

What changed was that the legality of making smut and the format we delivered it on. The technology (aka. format) made it possible for any MOnkEY to buy a set of Home Depot emergency lights and a digital camera with the "retard/auto" function and call himself a pornographer. It didn't matter if guy had a 2 inch limp dick or was simply a creep looking for a way he could fuck hookers for free because all that was important was he made cheap porn.

To make matters worse the studios not only bought up this cheap gonzo crap but also started to produce it and soon the entire market was saturated. In order to get an edge they started dealing with online porn reviewers, porn forums, etc. All of which just ended up adding more usless PuNTeR-MOnkIEs into the jizz biz and further devaluing our products.

Flash forward to 2008 and the PuNTeR-MOnkIEs gave birth to tube sites so that they could legally pirate our videos. The porn industry ended up collapsing and what remains is a disgustingly small fraction of the wealth that there used to be and 98% of what's left is controlled by a very very small group of people.

Do you think that in the 70s we didn't go to countries were making porn was legal and film there or get their movies and dump them on our market?

Stupidity factors aside,
Nothing has really changed in the jizz biz. It's still just penises being inserted into body orifices and men filming it so other men can jerk off. Every scam artist, punter, big mouth, big shot wannabe, drama queen, single mother, suitcase pimp and drug addict that existed 50 years ago are still here trying to make money by sticking a penis in someone's body cavity.
