It's not about the price but I remember back when dating sites use to be free, and it was the advertisers paying the companies based on the number of people they had on it ;) or ppc programs...
Now a lot of places do that but also charge... Even plenty of fish... you can still communicate with members for free which is nice but for certain features like if you want to see if someone has viewed your profile you need to pay a basic fee
