Here is my take on this.... A certain percentage of our population is mentally ill.
I have a friend who is 52, has water on the brain, and has had a dozen operations on his brain. He now operates at the level of a sixteen year old boy. He is disability from both the US Army and US Post Office, plus state disability, so he has income, and for the most part he seems to live a perfectly normal life. However, if you talk to him you quickly discover he can only talk about three or four subjects - His ex-wife, his kids, the Army, and the post office. If you ask him about Obama he will say "I didn't like him" but couldn't tell you why; He has no idea what Obamacare is. He doesn't know who Bush or Bill Clinton is.
He knows something is "off" about him, but he doesn't know what. He is mad, but doesn't know why. He has been robbed of his entire life - He will never be "right" or "normal". The older he gets, the worse it gets. He will never ever get laid again and this pisses him off.
Oh, He's armed too. He has an M16. (He is the one who helped me purchase my firearms.)
This is the reality we live in. We have people that are living on the borderline of being mentally ill who are armed - and they are pissed off.
