No, it doesn't. Once added, the gallery doesn't change. If the plugin will be checking every gallery on a distant host and compare every image there with the existing ones it will take forever to parse the feed. Even if it will simple recount the images in every gallery and check their names. Especially if the connection speed between the hosts is not ideal...
