You think this is the only time a lawyer has done that? I'm sure you're aware of that certain lawyers specialize in certain types of law, right? Civil, criminal, elder, child, family, etc. So if one hires his or her own it's organized corruption. Lol.

Here is my guess.... The relationship between Cohen and Trump is much more than attorney & client, and they have a number of business deals together. When they were looking into Trump's finances - or perhaps his son in law's finances - they discovered that Cohen is much more than just Trump's lawyer but also his business partner.
