When the ice sheets melt they spread out across a wider area.. these are bits of pieces of the glaciers like ice in a glass
it doesn't mean there is MORE ice covering the earth you dummy... it's bits of the glaciers floating off that from space looks like more cover but it's bad ice.. not the good thick glacier ice of past
