It's true,
I've seen it happen on a smaller scale within my lifetime but the current trend doesn't surprise me. The 50s' were my teenage years and I can honestly understand why they would be viewed as a "golden age." Families were far more stable and money went a lot farther than it does today. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a perfect decade and it had its share of social problems but there somehow more opportunities for the common man.
