Americans vote for whom they want to vote. All of the Presidential nominees from the last election received votes, including Rose Ann Barr. Those that spend the most money on ads/exposure are almost 100% of the time the person elected to office. The other nominees from other than the two most popular parties simply cannot raise enough money to pay for exposure.
Until laws are passed insuring that all nominees are equally funded for exposure the results will continue to be the same. I do not think such laws will ever be passed as it is the two major parties that would have to pass them and they won't unless the public demands that it be done and the public does not take enough interest in politics/elections to demand that it be done, the nominee that raises the most money will continue to be elected almost 100% of the time.
