My old insurer, an HMO plan, no longer included my favored hospital in its network. So, I changed to a policy with a more expensive (considerably) insurer and my primary care physician (PCP -- strange acronym), often referred to as "family doctor" was not included in this HMO.

I have to change PCP doctors now -- the person probably doesn't matter that much -- the hassle and inconvenience and paying for that aggravation does. You cannot see specialists without the referral of your PCP.

If we had single payer healthcare all doctors would participate in the *plan*
