for me Russian politics these days is a mix of oligarchs and power services (FSB, some army etc) that are stealing what they can. For the people that believe them, they throw some bones here and there, like some social welfare, lots of TV/state media propaganda 24/7 to make people think that they do care about the country and "how Russia is strong now, not like before it was on its knees"...terrible propaganda that Goebbels would be proud of.
also, a fear of the people and attempts to control them like they can (internet laws, mainfestation laws, judges dependent on politics/ Putin etc.). typical paranoya of someone that always had a paranoya because he/ they worked in FSB/ KGB :>
strange semi- authoritarian system that tries to control many things, yet prolly its hard to control russian spirit (i mean - soul - not vodka).
like: only guy retarded and paranoic like Putin would say that Maidan was orchestrated by CIA (from the beginning). it simply cant cross his mind that Ukrainians simply got really tired of guys that were robbing them like they could (gold toilets in Yanukovich house etc.)[thats the matter of standards that nation allows basically and who it elects, as politicians are representation of the nation ;-) ]

Everything is correct.
There are 3 main goals of ANY propaganda:
- Incite hatred. A hatred to anything or anyone: to gays, to other countries (e.g. to America), to other nations (e.g. to the Ukrainians) or to anything else like... people in white shirts for example. The targets of hatred are not important.
- Promote the past (e.g. our Great Victory) and the future (e.g. how good we will live someday... in future...), but never (never fuckin' ever!!!) don't speak about now! Don't tell a single word about the crisis and don't let people think on why they have it.
- Make people feel themselves insecure. Like anything may happen in every minute (e.g. ISIS will attack us, Ukrainians or Americans...) Make them think there will be chaos and the skies will fall if something happens to our Great Führer.
These are 3 simple rules that were used by Joseph Goebbels, so does the Putin's propaganda. If anyone has watched Russian TV "news", he knows what I'm talking about...
P.S. Initially I thought your comment was directed to me. Use nicknames or quotes next time ;)
