I think the real takeaway from this is that our president is such a known low life scumbag that we should be surprised he donated money when he said he was going to. Or did he? I don't trust that any financial sacrifice (albeit small for a billionaire *cough*) was made by Trump. Not that he needs to, because he's the president -- but since he was trying to APPEAR to be altruistic and charitable to people in need, we shouldn't all be wondering if it's actually true. That tells you there's a huge problem with the man's character.
