They did that because Castro the freedom fighter became Castro the dictator. Sure in his later years he eased up a bit but yea he was very well known for jailing and killing atone aginst him..

this is all true but the USA did everything possible to keep them down...I never said castro was perfect and that you can run a country that is under foreign pressure without killing people...
US sanctions killed way more people than castro...you can say "castro is to blame" but its really like this, imagine a wife *(cuban people) getting beat by her husband *(castro) and a passer by *(the USA) wants to help the wife by punishing her even more so that she leaves the abusive husband
now the husband beats her even more but the USA keeps the sanctions even longer...
this is what sanctions are...this is what caused them to run from cuba...
castro is a hero to me because he comes from a small country that stood up to invaders...batista practically made cuba a serf of america...
I am not pro communist I am not pro capitalist...I am for small people and countries standing up to oppressors in any way possible...castro is a hero to me, not for the people he killed but for who he stood up against...I admire the fuck out of him and I wish other leaders would stand up to invaders as well...
