The sheriff says officers reached the 32nd floor within 12 minutes of gunfire starting and by the time they arrived the gunfire had stopped. It would be another hour before they breached his hotel room and found him dead.
What is very interesting is the sheriff says there was a high amount of ammo left in the room and working guns still available. So why did he stop firing so soon?
They say he shot about 200 rounds into the hallway at a security guard.
THEORY:
Multiple shooters were involved and they turned their attention towards escaping as soon as they saw the guard on their surveillance in the hallway. They fired the 200 rounds into the hall as suppressive fire to make him take cover. Then the real shooters slipped away.
