Assault weapons are not the problem -- people are.
If you leave a assault weapon in a semiautomatic configuration and do not attempt to circumvent the law with bump stocks (or the like) then there is no real difference from a semi-automatic hunting rifle -- other that the dick-wad-bad-ass mentality that goes with owning these assault rifles -- again that is a people problem.
If you want to ban the possession and sales of magazines holding more that 5 rounds -- that would make more sense. What are you going to cry about -- you can no longer shoot a deer 30 times? WTF
It is a people problem and if you look at how successful the prohibited drug laws are ... I rest my case. It is a people problem.
