There are plenty of white communities in the south that have honored their Confederate 'heroes' with their names on schools and other public places.

There is a granite mountain named "Stone Mountain" near Atlanta with the Confederacy's Generals carved into it. No one is advocating (publicly at least) to dynamite and demolish it.

Maybe if they named your local University "The Stalin Institute" you would feel better? Then maybe not.
