I always wonder about the people who come up with this form of punishment. Is THAT the ultimate punishment for everyone? Or is it just your own projection as something you fear yourself? Torture doesn't deter violence, if anything it only creates more violence because someone has to carry this out. At least with a standard death penalty the problem is snuffed out. For more serious crimes like this i mean.
