I don't understand why incumbents would willing to become the disruptor of their industry -- that makes no sense.
As an example: Uber was a disruptor of the taxi industry not Yellow Cab Co, Inc or Airport Taxi, Inc -- they were the incumbents (targeted businesses) disrupted.
