Yikes. I usually do my upgrades a few days after they're released. I upgraded from Sierra to High Sierra over the weekend. It took about 7 minutes on my SSD-Macs, but about 20 minutes on my HDD mac.
One thing I noticed is that Safari now seems much faster than Chome, but I haven't used it on enough sites to say for sure.
