I think it depends on the program itself, as well as the type of content bring promoted. Another big factor is updating the site on time and on a regular basis. I always update my site very regularly with new models and content, which is good because it gives the customer a reason to come back to log in. I have customers that have been members for YEARS ....and the sales continue to flow in just about every other hour during the day and evening hours. These are new sales and re-bills.
I am just stating my own personal experiences and views on the matter. But yeah, I've just never understood why people say that because that's clearly not the case with my program. I think you are cutting yourself short by lumping ALL programs together that use CCBill just because a few others didn't do so well.

My experience says that conversions are better on the program side compared to affiliate. For example, when I was running a paysite many years ago, updates could be late for months literally, and there were still new signups every day on a relatively small traffic volume. Maybe competition was not so strong back then, but this is my personal experience. Content quality is probably a huge factor plus piracy.
