It's not going to happen tomorrow or next year, maybe not even in our lifetimes, but I don't think we are too far off from a situation where a basic Universal Income of some sort will be put in place.

AI is the difference. I had an issue with Amazon today (they tried to charge me $50 for some "credit card security" bullshit) and I had to speak to a person - in a chat box. It worked, but eventually.... Jobs like that will be completely phased out. AI will be able to do that.
This will start to happen in our lifetime.
