Thanks for all the info, and i knew some of that already. Help me out on this: Wouldn't Trump's action today make alot of land at Bears Ears National Monument to now be available for oil and gas drilling? Same question about Grand Staircase Escalante Monument? Some of those areas are rich in Native American Artifacts.
To Trumps credit, he is supposed to allow for co-management of these areas for Tribes. I doubt this will happen or be fair, but I'll give him benefit of the doubt for now. But if this is true, then why the Navajos threatening to sue Trump? And why wasn't the decision made without consulting the Navajos? And why are so many others announcing they will sue as well?
Of course I'm no expert. From my HippyLiberal (and proud) view though, I see this as something that didn't need to be done. I'm also really bothered by the fact that some of that beautiful landscape could be be one day ruined forever by mining outfits, oil and gas companies, etc.

I don't know the answers to those questions. I only know that everything is EXACTLY the same as it was the day before Pres. Obama pulled that land grab in the first place one year ago. NOTHING has changed.
I have personally hiked those parks by the way. And yeah, they ARE parks. I did it in 2015 BEFORE Pres. Obama grabbed the land.
They were beautiful then. And they are still beautiful now.
The Federal Govt. is not the answer to everything you know. And that land grab was a "solution" to a "problem" that didn't exist in the first place.
As was pointed out. Pres. Obama did it to secure a vote in the Senate. Pure politics all the way it appears to me.
And as for "Federal Protection" of "the land"...really?
Since when does a sovereign state need bureaucrats in far away Washington D.C. to "protect" their OWN land?
And who knows what kind of bullshit the Feds might have done anyway.
For all any of us know they could have put in silos with nuclear ICBM's in them.
Because that IS what they do all over the country. Hidden nuclear missile silos are ALL on Federal land.
In other words...fuck the govt. lol
