Me too. But like I said, nothing has changed there in any way at all. The land wasn't "protected" by the Federal Govt. since the beginning of time. And only was put in a fake status as a "monument" exactly one year ago.
I'm not sure what the Feds in Washington D.C. have done, or COULD even do to have changed anything for the "better" in Utah during that short time period.
But who knows? Maybe there is oil underground there. I know we won't agree on this...but in my opinion that would be a GOOD thing. Great for the country, great for the economy, and great for the people of Utah.
This isn't 1890 anymore. Oil can be extracted without all the nastiness to the environment by using modern technology.
But that's another argument for another thread.
I'm really just trying to point out that the media is acting like this is suddenly a national "park" and has been "protected" since the beginning of the country.
That's a completely false narrative.
It's been exactly 12 months. That's all. And I highly doubt that the Trump administration allowed any of the bureaucracies in D.C. to move forward with any of their plans for the land during this year.
It's kind of a non-story on the environmental front from what I can ascertain. It's more of a story of misuse of the Antiquity Act by the former President and how it was used to steal land from the people living in the states that were affected.
There's ALWAYS an opposing viewpoint to every issue it seems these days.
I watched Pres. Trump's speech today as he signed the land back to the people of Utah to a cheering crowd.
He had a funny line where he said that he was doing this and had been assured that THIS wouldn't be "controversial". LOL
His comedic timing is pretty good. Anyway, it made me chuckle as he was obviously stating that it doesn't matter WHAT he does...he gets attacked for it by the media and political groups.
