If you really want to splurge, I'd look for a 97 (or better yet 95) Kenwood Artist Series Cab... or most any year of anything from Diamond Creek (especially the Volcanic, its just unreal all the way across the board) would be great choices from Cali --

There are some awesome Aussie wines, and some really good ones from Chile out there too.

I don't know squat about French wines, sadly, that is a whole other study in itself...
