For me the hours of whining around that scene took all the punch out of it. And that whole season was building up to that moment - i remember a walking dead where every episode was intense. That's completely gone for about 4 seasons already.
And every season it gets worse. CGI gunfire coming out of the guns, no casings, no recoils - i noticed this immediately and it looked like kids were playing war. Absolutely laughable and pathetic. The walking dead is an insult to the people who are stupid enough to still watch it, and that includes me

I have a big problem with the obvious lack of gun experts behind the scenes on TWD. Everyone fires endlessly on full auto like there's unlimited ammo, while in that world bullets would be more valuable than anything else. But everyone just sprays 7.62 and 5.56 like it grows on trees. Where the fuck are all of these bullets coming from?
And it makes for a boring gunfight. There's no imagination in the gunfight choreography and the editing makes it hard to tell what's going on. Cut to this person shooting randomly. Cut to the other person shooting randomly. Repeat. There's no expert marksman picking off targets with single shots, flanking or anything cool. It's just leaning on the trigger and endless rat tat tat. A child could direct these scenes.
I'm not saying they haven't had good gunplay in the past on TWD, but that time has passed and they've become extremely lazy about it.
This is a fucking gunfight. The writers should watch the work of Christopher McQuarrie as mandatory education on how to do it.
