the risk to loose is very very high when trump is still the leader of them (as you have seen well in alabama).

if they are losing high - than even the democrats (with the help of some angry reps - and there are a lot of them) will impeach him.

on the other hand: if they get rid of him before the mid elections they do have a chance
to keep their seats because than it is not an election for or contra trump (what they will hardly win) than these elections are between reps and dems.
