What Southwest Airlines has done is give a "1 time bonus" to its employees. They didn't get a "raise".
A $1000 Bonus is worth what - 2 weeks worth of salary for the lowest-paid employee?
That bonus is equal to only 1% of their total yearly earnings if they are broom-pushers. This bonus is much less if they are any grade above that.
