I now honestly think they were going to attempt an assassination before he took office.. I'm trying to dig up the links but there was a General (can't even remember his name) who went to NY and met Trump without notifying the Obama admin. There was a big to do about it in the news. The very next day Trump moved to another residence. That's probably why he insisted on keeping his own private security... Because he didn't know who he could trust on the inside.
