Btw this is actually a perfect example. Rightly or wrongly, a lot of people were concerned with what an influx of 30m people would do (I don't know the specifics, I intentionally ignored anything to do with immigration) - now, from what I *did* read, the answer to those people worried about:

school places
doctors apointments
hospital waiting lists
jobs
already stretched council services
etc

wasn't: ok, we have infrastructure plans.. or: jobs aren't actually threatened by insanely cheap polish building workers living 6 to a house... or: we have plans for councils to actually take away your rubbish more than once every 2 weeks, and if you miss a collection have to wait a month

it was: you racists, this country brought in a gajillion jamaicans in the 50s!

How in the actual fuck does that answer those people, and how in the actual fuck did remain think that screaming 'racist' over and again about people genuinely worried that the already shitty nhs is going to cope?

It's insane. Guaranteed every one of those people, the ones who genuinely aren't racist, and have no desire whatsoever to see all the 'foreigners' shipped straight off, felt cornered, humiliated, and went into fight or flight. The 'fight' this time being that gigantic 'well fuck you then' at the voting booths. Nobody, from the smartest person on earth, to the dumbest cunt alive, likes being told how to behave, how to think, and what to do. What everyone wants, is to be treated on a par with whoever they are dealing with, regardless of if they actually *are*. Getting called names because person A *thinks* person B thinks a certain way (fuck, how many times on this board, or across the internet, or in person, have people thought something about you that patently isn't true, but the other person has made up their mind, and that's now some 'fact'?) is guaranteed to create even more friction than was originally there, or to create it at all if there was none.

Like a wise man said to me, that people in general would do well to remember: stop doing other people's thinking for them, you are always wrong.

Again, that isn't all of it, but just as the immigration *was* a powerful component, so was the above.

* I'll give you idiot racist cunts like oppoten voted to leave though.
