And again.. If poms took out more health insurance most of the issues would go away and the pressure is taken off the public health system, but ya's won't because its better to die with a penny in your pocket than without.
Two countries, both with free public health of similar quality.
One country has 6% taking out extra insurance one has 50%, and right there is the main reason you have such a problem in the UK. And by no way does that mean things here are much better with the NHS, that's why most have insurance as well.
eat it up.

and again.. this is 'is the nhs great or shit'... not 'should brits buy insurance, as well as paying an average of $6,000 a year out of their average wages of $41,400 equating to an average of 14.49%'. Nor is it is 'but what about this other country and their health service'.
I happen to agree that brits should take out private insurance if they can afford to, but that isn't the fucking back and forth here lol... that is the 'next' discussion, ie 'how do we change the nhs from being a bag of shit... here are some ways
1. cut mismanagement and waste
2. encourage more people to opt for private insurance
3. etc
Maybe if someone starts that thread, you can put your then-on-point posts in there. That would then be an interesting topic, and we could share overall tax expenses, and see who from countries with a national healthcare system is doing it smart, and who is doing it wastefully. Then we could bring up the interesting fact that aussies pay less income tax, and only 2% healthcare tax, according to
https://www.theguardian.com/money/20...e-australia-us, which leaves a bit more in the kitty for private insurance. Which may well be horseshit, but throughout the thread we'd get some input to correct any misreporting or factual errors. Then maybe, in that thread, everyone could come in and take comment A, reply to it with off-topic comment B, and you'd be right at home.
