It wasn't because they were dumb, it was because their society lacked a need or want to move on past the stone age and remained as tribal groups who were conquered by those who made advances past that tribal mentally.

look you are blending tribalism and western innovation into some weird theory. I'm not sure you really understand the past... things did not change as they do now... a family could live in a village for 2 or 3 generations and never have anything happen. maybe once in a while, some issues with the king but mostly 99% of humans lived on small farms barely surviving. you know where Constantinople is? and how there is a straight and river entrance there? the Bosphorus? they used to run a chain across the straight to stop ships from entering the mouth of the river... the chain was there for over 900 years, do you get it? shit did change like it does now.... the ancients used the same warship design with not many changes for almost a 1000 years... yeah, a 1000 years... so you to say well the Americans didn't get their shit together... really? they got fucking bulldozed by a modern war society before they got their foot out the door.
